The platform serves as a framework to accelerate Smart Contact Lens (SmCL) development and unlock various business opportunities. Our contribution extends across the value chain from providing a common architecture and interfacing with individual ideas to supporting SmCL itself and its commercialization. The platform's change creation will vary depending on the apps (hardware and software) that are introduced, the wearable devices that are combined with it, and the different technologies that are integrated.
In any case, this is distinct from the numerous glasses-type, goggles-type, and head-mounted displays that have been developed so far. SmCL not only enable a new sensory experience beyond 'seeing', but are also believed to offer a wider, clearer, more natural, and comfortable 'visual experience'.

With past visual information recorded in SmCL, our images will no longer be limited to the present reality. Timeless visual data and imaginary spaces will create the sensation of a pseudo-time slip, allowing us to relive past moments and experience them as if they were happening in real-time.

The sense of presence will extend beyond physical space as vision becomes just one aspect of perception, enriched by additional layers of information. With SmCL enabling recognition beyond physical space, we will experience a simulated form of teleportation. This advancement will allow us to attend meetings in cyberspace without physically moving and interact with people as if they were right beside us, even when meeting in person is difficult.

The SEED Group’s platform development journey began with the implementation and sales of Triggerfish®. Since then, we have not only been developing SmCL for medical use in treatment and diagnosis but also pursued a new "platform concept"—one that integrates products, services, and technology—to bring the future of SmCL to life and expand its market. Now, we have successfully developed a ‘common architecture’ that consolidates the essential technologies needed for SmCL, regardless of its purpose. This achievement is the result of years of accumulated technological advancements—built steadily over time, never in a single day. What can the common
architecture do?
The ‘common architecture’ is equipped with RFID for power efficiency, a 1mm² LSI enabling powerful device control (600μW at constant operation), a circuit board for smooth communication between lenses and peripheral devices, and advanced connectivity systems such as Bluetooth® technology.
We believe that target devices and your brilliant ideas—introducing new modules and systems to this platform—will pave the way for the following applications, for example:
- Augmented reality / mixed reality
- Virtual reality
- Metaverse space generation
- Biosensing
- Medical communication infrastructure (remote ophthalmology, etc.)
- Ophthalmology treatment

The common architecture has the LSI chip in the lens (designed by RAMXEED Co., Ltd.), 10-20 μm wide Au wiring, a flexible substate (manufactured by CenturyArcs Co., Ltd.) with islands area for various chips mount, peripheral devices outside the lens, information terminal equipment in further outside , and software (cloud-coupled type).
